Registration Account Links

By default, vehicle registration information is not displayed.  Customers must add their their accounts one-by-one by supplying the appropriate information in the Link Registration Accounts window.  The information provided by the customer is validated against the NHVR's heavy vehicle database.  The information provided must match as it is the means by which the NHVR verifies that the person requesting access to the registration information is authorised to do so.  Where the information provided does not match, the registration information is not linked.   For security purposes, hints are not provided to the user as to where the mismatch exists as this may  make it easier for an unauthorised person to guess the information required and gain access. 

Only account administrators have the ability to add a Registration account to their NHVR Portal Customer account, other users cannot see the option to link registration accounts.

To link an account the user must click on the 'Link Registration Account' button at the top of the Customers 'Registration Details' table.

The following fields are used to verify if a user has the rights to link the registration account to the Portal.

The following options are available, depending on the option selected it will display another verification field:

  • Individual - Will display a 'Date of Birth' field; requires the user to enter the date of birth of the person that the account is registered too

  • Non-Individual - Will display a 'ABN' field; requires the user to enter the ABN of the the business that the account is registered too
  • Company - Will display a 'ACN' field; requires the user to enter the ACN of the company that the account is registered too
StateThe state or territory that the registration account is registered in
Customer Reference NumberThe registration accounts unique identification number (issued by the state of registration and found on the renewal notice)
Registration Plate NumberThe registration plate number of one of the registrations linked to the account
Garage Address Postcode

The postcode for the garage address of one of the registrations linked to the account


A registration account may be linked to multiple Customer accounts within the Portal

The user can follow the steps in the Wizard, or if preferred, Skip Wizard and fill out the information as required.  

When a user successfully links a registration account to their Portal account it will be displayed in the 'Linked Registration Accounts' section of the 'Registration Account Links' page. All of the registrations linked to the registration account will be displayed in the 'Registration Details' page, Customers may link multiple registration accounts to their Portal account. 

If a user inputs any incorrect details into the form and selects 'Add' the system will display a error message at the bottom of the screen informing the user that the verification failed; it will not inform the user as to which field is incorrect. It is designed this way as a security measure.

To remove a linked account users can navigate to the 'Linked Registration Accounts' section of the 'Registration Account Links' page and select the Bin icon next to the registration account they would like to remove, when a link is removed all of the registration linked to that account will be removed from the Portal.

Due to the delay of data being received from the Jurisdictions there can be a delay where a Customer has updated their registrations details and it is not reflected in the Portal immediately.
