What has changed with the process for amending a permit application?

Answer:

From 1 July 2016, the NHVR will no longer process an application to add a route or area as an amendment application, but will treat it as a new application and charge the usual fee. This is because adding routes or areas requires the NHVR to obtain consents from road managers, substantially adding to processing times, and delaying other applications.

Applications that will not attract a fee are:

  • Adding/removing registration numbers for the same vehicle specification
  • Changing company trading name or details, such as postal/physical addresses
  • Minor variations to route (see explanation of a minor route variation)
  • Request to amend road and travel conditions
